From splash pads and sweet treats to indoor entertainment and family-friendly fun, there’s something for everyone to enjoy around the city. Whether you’re visiting Odessa for the weekend or looking for local ways to beat the heat, these spots are perfect for staying cool all summer long.

 

Spraygrounds & Splashpads

MCKINNEY PARK SPRAYGROUND

If you’re searching for a fun-filled day of water play, McKinney Park Sprayground is the place to be. This colorful sprayground offers an interactive water playground with various water features and spray nozzles that will keep children entertained for hours. Sprayground has two shade umbrellas on a first come first serve basis. Bring your little ones and let their imaginations run wild in this aquatic wonderland.

Location: 625 W. Pool Rd
Hours: Daily from 1-7pm
Extended Season Begins: August 7 – TBD • Friday – 4pm to 7pm • Saturday and Sunday – 1pm to 7pm / *season lasts until October 1 as weather permits.

JURASIC JUNGLE SPRAYGROUND 

Step into a prehistoric world of water fun at Jurassic Jungle Sprayground, situated at 1100 W. 42nd St. This unique splash pad is themed around dinosaurs and provides a thrilling adventure for children. With dinosaur-shaped water structures, geysers, and fountains, Jurassic Jungle Sprayground offers a memorable and educational experience for young explorers.

ODESSA COLLEGE DOWNTOWN SPLASH PAD

The Downtown Community Center is Odessa College’s outdoor venue located in Downtown Odessa. The outdoor venue includes a large green space, two covered performance canopies, two entrance gates, a Splash Pad, outdoor seating, restrooms and parking for food truck vendors.

Location: 222 E 4th St (corner of 4th and Jackson Street)
Hours: Friday-Sunday from 12 PM-8 PM (weather permitting)

Admission: Free

SHERWOOD FAMILY AQUATIC CENTER

Sherwood Family Aquatic Center is a popular choice among locals and visitors alike. The facility offers a variety of amenities, including a large swimming pool, water slides, a lazy river, and a splash pad for the little ones. With its family-friendly atmosphere and exciting water features, Sherwood Family Aquatic Center guarantees a splashing good time for all. Concession stands available, family changing rooms available, lifeguards on duty at all times.

Location: 4520 N. Dixie Blvd
Hours: Monday – Sunday from 1-7pm
Admission & Fees:

  • Age 0 to 11months old – free
  • Age 1 to 18 years old – $2.50 per child
  • Age 19 to 64 years old – $4 per adult
  • Age 65-older – free
  • Family Night Special: Thursday night from 5 pm to 8 pm to admission of $4.50 for a family of four members
    • Each additional family member will pay the general admission gate fee, No additional admission fee if arriving before 5pm
 

WOODSON FAMILY AQUATIC CENTER

Woodson Family Aquatic Center provides a fantastic aquatic experience for everyone. The facility boasts an Olympic-sized swimming pool, diving board, water slides, and a separate kiddie pool. Whether you’re a serious swimmer or just looking to relax in the sun, Woodson Family Aquatic Center has something for everyone in the family. Concession stand available.

Hours: Monday – Sunday from 1-7pm

Admission & Fees:

  • Age 0 to 11months old – free
  • Age 1 to 18 years old – $2.50 per child
  • Age 19 to 64 years old – $4 per adult
  • Age 65-older – free
  • Family Night Special: Thursday night from 5 pm to 8 pm to admission of $4.50 for a family of four members

FLOYD GWIN POOL 

Floyd Gwin Pool is a popular choice for those seeking a classic swimming experience. If you’re looking to improve your swimming skills, Floyd Gwin Pool also offers swimming lessons for all ages. Concessions stand available.

Location: 1015 N. County Road West
Hours: Monday – Sunday from 1-7pm (Closed on Wednesdays)
Admission & Fees:

  • Age 0 to 11 months old – Free
  • Age 1 to 18 years old – $1.50 per child
  • Age 19 to 64 years old – $3 per adult
  • Age 65 to older – Free
 

ODESSA YMCA

The Odessa YMCA not only offers fitness facilities but also features an indoor pool for year-round swimming. Whether you’re looking to swim laps or join aquatic exercise classes, the Odessa YMCA provides a welcoming environment for individuals of all ages and abilities.

Location: 3001 E. University Blvd
Hours: 5am – 9pm | Closed certain hours for swimming classes, would recommend calling before.
Admission & Fees: $12 for adults (18+) | $5 for kids (ages 5-17) | Free for ages 5 and under

 

UTPB SWIMMING POOL

The swimming pool at the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) is another excellent choice for both students and the public. Whether you’re looking to swim for recreation or fitness, the UTPB pool provides a welcoming and accessible place to take a dip.

Hours: Mondays: closed | Tuesday – Thursday: 3:00PM – 6:00PM | Friday – Sunday: 12:00PM – 6:00PM
Admission & Fees: $5 Entrance fee *all payments must be made online. Cash is not accepted at the pool. | Free for UTPB students with valid UTPB Student ID (Card only)
