This group will explore the mind/body connection, focus on mindfulness strategies, and the therapeutic use of movement.
Dance/movement therapy (DMT) is defined by the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) as the psychotherapeutic use of movement to promote emotional, social, cognitive, and physical integration of the individual, for the purpose of improving health and well-being.
Mind, body, and spirit are interconnected.

About the therapist
Amanda Lopez, LPC, NCC, R-DMT
She is currently the Coordinator for Social Emotional Learning in Ector County ISD. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Nationally Certified Counselor, a Registered Dance Movement Therapist, and EMDR Basic level therapist. Amanda is a proud graduate from Antioch University New England, where she received a Dual Master’s Degree in Counseling and Dance/Movement Therapy. Amanda received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Texas at Arlington. Amanda has presented at local and national mental health conferences about the utilization of the Expressive Arts and Dance/ Movement Therapy in Grief Counseling, Counselor Self-Care, and Dance/ Movement Therapy. Amanda received the Ector County ISD Counselor of the Year award, The Hispanic Heritage of Odessa Educator of the Year, and was selected as an Odessa Under 40 Honoree.
